What.?
Intel has announced two new PC processor series - Pentium Silver and the latest-gen Celeron - to counter Qualcomm's laptop chipsets and deliver "connectivity at amazing value". These new processors are the low-powered cousins of Intel's Kaby Lake (7th gen) lineup and are based on Intel's new Gemini Lake architecture.

These new processors are the low-powered cousins of Intel's Kaby Lake (7th gen) lineup and are based on Intel's new Gemini Lake architecture.
Why?
The CPUs feature support for 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, which is twice as fast as the traditional 802.11ac setup, and Intel claims it is the first Gigabit Wi-Fi on any PC platform. Unlike Snapdragon, however, the new Intel chipsets do not support LTE.
How
Additionally the CPUs feature a display technology called "Local Adaptive Contrast Enhancement" which will optimise displays on the basis of ambient lighting condition, making viewing easier even under bright sunlight.
